It’s official. SUPERSWEET wants to make out with Beach House. The silver-souled Subpop duo makes the kind of music that could lull us into a soft porn cinema – gas lamps and Jayne Mansfield to coup. They’re blindingly cool, make great lo-fi music vids and haunt their way through loving laments with that shivery, signature electric verve.
Third album Teen Dream is a 50s dream-pop heartbreaker, lyrically tearing away at the “love me” rose petals heaven but indulging us in a more off-beat romanticism; a sustaining quality since we first heard their self-titled debut, Beach House. Any flaws the band might have possessed in their birthing years have been weaned out of existence and 'Silver Soul' is a testament to their love-making ability.
