SUPERSWEET is open to contributors! We welcome like-minded individuals who want to contribute their skills, build on creative experience or expand their digital publishing superpowers. While we can’t pay you in pennies, we can offer you a launch pad for your career, five-star treatment, a friendly team to work with and sometimes perks too! If digital publishing is the hub for you, please read on and see what you can do. Please use the contact form and put your area of interest in the subject to get in touch with us.
1) WRITERS
SUPERSWEET ZOO is often on the scout for budding or experienced writers. You can be based anywhere in the world, although for live music reviews it’s best if you’re based in London, New York and especially LA. You can write about art, culture, music and fashion, so long as it's something that suits our demographic. If you have a portfolio, please drop us an email and send through no more than 2 of your best examples. If you don’t have any experience, then write an article so we can check your style. Likewise, if you have a pitch for an interview/feature article, let us know. Long-term contributors will be put on a trial course to ensure quality, dedication and adaptability.
2) PHOTOGRAPHERS
Tell us if you want to do live, band shots, still life or fashion. Have your online portfolio ready. Again, you need to be based in LA or London and New York only, unless you want to do still life, then we’ll see if we can send some trial projects. Fashion editorial is strict, but if you’re seriously interested then please link us to an online portfolio, including 2 sample pictures of your best work. Regarding pitches, detail your ideas clearly, showing us a story/style board first, and we’ll take it from there.
3) STYLISTS
The stylist’s role is key in every fashion shoot. Stylists are expected to pitch shoot ideas, source clothes from PR companies, create a style board and send to us.
4) DESIGNERS
The SUPERSWEET Shop sources the best in global fashion brands, representing off beat luxury and a sense of stylish humour. We are very particular with brands we wish to sell, but we do support upcoming designers with extreme talent and an eye for fashion-forward trends. If you are a designer and believe your collection is right for SUPERSWEET, please email all relevant details and line sheet to shop[at]supersweet[dot]org
* Please note that currently SS are not taking on any more brands.
5) ILLUSTRATORS
We love illustrators! Illustrators have the power to communicate emotive features, stories, articles and even sell clothes. You can be based anywhere in the world, just show us what you’ve done and we’ll be happy to take a look. Both ZOO and our SUPERSWEET Shop accept work from illustrators. Email samples of your work and a link to your online portfolio (if you have one).
6) INTERNSHIPS
SUPERSWEET works with interns of all ages and experience, depending on suitability and office space. We will be looking for interns from March 2011 on, so if you’re looking for experience, please see below what department interests you. Then drop us an email with your relevant details, covering letter, CV, when you’re available and clearly stating in the subject field what work you are looking for. Daily administration is a vital duty and will be included in any office-based roles. We also like to trial Interns on a week long basis to make sure we all work well together! Please let us know which department you’d like to work for in the subject field. You need to be able to travel to and from our LA office though.
Editorial (minimum one month)
Editorial is a popular department but there’s times when we have openings for assistants, so please do contact us if you’re burning to excel in publishing.
The role involves supporting the editorial team, researching articles, pitching ideas, writing, sourcing images, obtaining rights to use materials, liasing with PR companies and galleries, using word and Excel; meeting deadlines. A basic knowledge of Photoshop is preferred. The role includes daily administration, management of petty cash and posting goods from our Shop.
PR & Marketing (minimum 2-3 months)
SUPERSWEET run an in-house publishing hub called the SUPERSWEET Showroom. Press and marketing are vital to our long term success and we’re in constant contact with the media via press releases, news bulletins and active publicity strategies. If you’re lively, confident, innovative, strong with words and possess a polite and forward telephone manner, then this is the department for you.
Graphic Design (minimum 2-3 months)
In the past, we’ve worked with a number of graphic designers looking for experience. It can be an important role in the company, but also an intermittent one. SUPERSWEET only takes on graphic designers with very strong portfolios, because due to time and staff restraints, we cannot offer guidance or tutoring to expand your skills. Sorry. However, if you’re right for the job, with the right style and skills, but in need of office-based experience, then please email two samples of your work plus a link to your online portfolio.
SUPERSWEET Shop
We’re proud of our Shop – since 2007 it’s become the most successful aspect of our website and we want to keep it that way! There’s always something to do, whether its liaising with customers, packing up garments, franking and posting items or generally helping out with deliveries. We like to ensure a high standard for all our customers, so if online retail turns you on, then get in touch and come on board.
THANK YOU - WE HEART YOU ALL!!!
